Proud Momma

Oh man, it was a long day at work.  But the rest of the week should hopefully go by pretty fast.  So you are probably wondering why I titled this Proud Momma ..... and no I am not pregnant!  I am so proud of our little doggies!  We usually keep the 3 little ones in a crate when we are not home and at night - otherwise they have occasional accidents or getting in trash cans, etc.  I am a firm believer in crate training and I know that the dogs feel safe in their "bed."  They share a HUGE crate that is meant for the biggest dog you can imagine.  There is no convenient place to keep such a big thing except in our bedroom and I have just been so tired of looking at it.  We are going to put in a doggie door (I have refused in the past, due to security issues ... but I am giving in).  The problem with nighttime is, if they are not in the crate they get in bed with us and there is not room for them.  Even though they are small, they sure can take up a lot of room and then I sleep even worse than other nights.  The other night we decided to try letting them sleep outside of the crate.  We put all the bedding on the floor in the place where the crate usually is.  Both of the girls went to bed just fine, but Little Boy stood next to my side of the bed and cried for a little while but I kept telling him to go to his own bed and finally he gave up and did just that.  All 3 of them slept in their own bed all night long without even trying to get in bed with us!  I was completely shocked the next morning.  Last night I woke up twice to find Little Boy in bed with us but I kicked him out and then he slept in his own bed the rest of the night.  I never thought it would be this easy!  I am so proud of them and can't wait to get the dog door put in so that we can do away with the crate for good (hopefully).  Peanut will be the problem with that - she does not like doggie doors and also does not like our big dog who stays outside, so I am not sure if she will use the dog door at all, but we are going to try.
