Today, I came across a blog that everyone should read.
A little back story:
I have a serious obsession ... ok, addiction to the website babysteals.com - if you have never heard of it, you should check it out (unless you don't have a baby). There is also kidsteals.com and scrapbooksteals.com. Anyway, this gal Jess is a fan on babysteals.com's facebook page and I saw that a page had been started to raise money for her because she could not afford to buy a headstone for her son's grave. In just 3 days, over $2000 was raised - mostly from strangers who heard her story and wanted to help! This is how I came across her blog and read about the tragedy she has been through. I bawled my eyes out reading it. SO SAD.
You should really check out her blog, but I will share a bit of her story. She gave birth to a baby boy last October. She had been told during an ultrasound that she was having a girl, so what a surprise to see her baby BOY. At her 20 week ultrasound they also learned that their baby had some heart defects, but were told that with some surgeries, their baby could still lead a normal life. When their little boy arrived, the defects were worst-case scenario and the doctors said there was nothing that could be done. After a week in the hospital, they prepared to say goodbye as they decided it was time to take him off of support and he was not expected to live without it. Unexpectedly, he started breathing on his own and after a few hours they got to take him home to spend his last hours with him. He ended up living another 37 days! To them, this was a miracle. He died in his mother's arms. :( I look back to when Ryder was just over a month old and I can't imagine that being all the time I got with him! It seems so unfair. I can't even begin to imagine the loss of a child and I hope that I will never have to know the pain of that.
Here is her blog: thisandthataboutthebowmans.blogspot.com
She is a beautiful writer and when you see pictures of their precious baby boy, your heart will just melt. I highly recommend removing any mascara before reading.
I couldn't do anything but hug and hold Ryder after reading this. I am thankful for him every day, and I cherish every minute with him. He is such a blessing and I love him more than anything!
