Sick Little Dude

Poor Ryder seems to have come down with a little cold. I have no idea where he would have gotten it, as we have hardly left the house this week. We did have Rudy's family and my parents over for his birthday on Wednesday, so maybe someone brought germs with them. Our 3 nephews had come from school, so that would be my guess. But who knows. I heard him coughing a little through the night last night, but this morning he seemed ok. Around noon I thought he sounded a little stuffed up as I was nursing him (I also ran the possibility that he jammed something up his nose through my head, but I think he's a little young for that). We took a quick trip to the grocery store around 2pm and as soon as we got into the store he started sneezing, which triggered a very runny nose. I had left the diaper bag in the car and had nothing to wipe his nose with, so I had to find the kleenex aisle, open a box off the shelf and then buy it, of course. He kept sneezing in the store and I wondered if he had an allergy to something, but he had that look on his face like he just didn't feel well. After we got home, I noticed he felt warm, so I took his temperature and sure enough, 100.1. His first fever! :( Poor guy. It really hasn't slowed him down though and he was in a happy mood all day. He didn't even take an afternoon nap (his morning nap was 2 hours though)! I put him in his crib but all he did was cry and I felt awful leaving him in there when he didn't feel well. After a dose of tylenol his fever came down a little. He has been restless since we put him to bed. I feel terrible for him, knowing how awful sleeping is when you are sick, even though it is what you want and need the most! We went in to take his temperature a little bit ago and it was still up so we gave him another dose of tylenol and got the humidifier going. I have got to get one of those quick ear thermometers. We just have the regular one and it's so hard to keep him still while we try to keep it under his arm. Anyway, hopefully he will kick whatever this is pretty quickly!

Ummm ..... woah .... thunder! I had no idea there was a storm coming in! That's exciting! Hope it's not just a tease. Bring on the big storm!

Well I am off to bed .... I have a "hint" of a sore throat. Hope I am not getting sick too!

Oh my! Poor guy :( Really though, if this is his first fever you're doing pretty good mommy! Hard to realize it when they are sick, but a little bug every once is a while is good for the immune system :)
