We have made it through the worst of Ryder's sickness and he seems to be on the mend. Saturday night was rough. Poor guy couldn't sleep well because he couldn't breathe through his nose. I felt awful because I know how terrible sleeping is when you are sick! We heard him on the baby monitor throughout the night. I only had to go in there once when he got upset. We had a hard time getting him back to sleep, but once we did he slept a little better for the rest of the night. He woke up burning up with a fever. I felt like the worst mom ever because I had intended to go in there and take his temperature sometime in the middle of the night and give him tylenol, if needed ..... but I didn't. And I think we even slept through his cries for awhile in the morning. He looked awful! We could tell he was feeling pretty terrible. I went to Target right when they opened for a new humidifier (the one we already had blows out hot air and it turned his room into a sauna, so we got a cool mist one) and a better thermometer because we have been meaning to for awhile. Rudy had to work all day, so it was just me and the sick little man all day. We finally got his fever to break with a couple doses of tylenol. Being sick didn't slow him down too much, but he was a little extra snuggly (a bonus for me, really!) and we spent a lot of time nursing. He was up and down most of the day, but really for being sick he was quite a trooper and stayed in a good mood for the most part. Last night he slept 12 hours straight and I am glad he was able to get so much rest. He seemed to be much better when he woke up. His nose is still running like crazy and he's coughing a lot, but I think it's mostly from not being able to breathe through his nose and choking on his mucous. Yuck!
Rudy didn't have to be at work until later today so I got to run some errands by myself, which is always nice. It wasn't a very successful trip, but I was able to be quick at least. Hopefully Ryder will be well enough tomorrow to go and do a couple errands with me. We have NO food in the house! Mama is hungry! ;)
We leave for vacation 2 weeks from Wednesday and I still have to figure out who is going to watch the dogs! 2 of them have places to go and 2 do not. I always prefer to have someone stay at the house while we are away because I feel better knowing someone is around, but that may not happen this time! I am sure we will figure something out, but I would really like to check it off my long to-do list.
The rest of the week will be spent trying to knock things off of that list!
Here are some recent pictures .....
Enjoying some banana! If I ever get around to it, I will have to upload the video of this. He kept randomly cracking up, it was really cute.
She got it back. This went back and forth for a little bit. They are both eyeing the other's toy here.
He knocked over this heavy basket of books and climbed on top of them. I couldn't figure out what he was trying to get to.
Me: "Ryder, put that cord down!" (He holds it up and looks at me like, "I'm sick, I don't have to listen")
Me: "Ryder, don't you dare put that cord in your mouth!" (He puts the cord in his mouth and looks at me like this...)
Usually he is pretty good at listening when I tell him no. Apparently, not when he's sick.
