We had Ryder's 2 week check-up on Monday and the boy is growing like crazy!  He has grown 2 inches since birth and almost a whole pound in just the past week.  He is perfectly healthy and we went to a different doctor than we did for his 1 week check up and we liked this one a lot, so we will be sticking with him.  Thankfully, we no longer have to wake Ryder up for feedings and can let him sleep as long as he wants since he is growing so well.  He usually has a good 6 hour stretch and then 2 more 3 hour stretches through the night.  The only problem is that he has started going to sleep early and I am usually not ready to go to bed, so I am missing out on sleeping for that 6 hours.  We usually get a couple good naps in together during the day though.  I love to snuggle with him!

Rudy has been back at work and it's going ok.  Today and yesterday he was gone for 12 hours though and they were pretty long days.  He was off on Monday and I didn't change a single diaper all day!  Rudy is awesome and changes all the diapers when he is home.  Luckily, we have a very mellow and laid back baby so my days alone are pretty easy.  Just a lot of feeding and changing diapers ... and of course snuggling.  Our house is a disaster and I usually don't make it out of my pajamas until Rudy gets home and then I just shower and put on fresh pj's.  I actually got some laundry folded today while Ryder was in his swing ... maybe someday soon I will get the floors cleaned.  I can't stand it when the floors aren't clean.  There are a lot of things I can overlook, but dirty floors is not one of them.  I know I won't get these precious days with my newborn back though, so the floors will wait.  I intend to snuggle with my baby all day, everyday while I can.

I can't believe tomorrow is Thanksgiving!  It is my favorite holiday, but this year I am a little stressed about it.  We have 3 different places we are supposed to go - seems a little overwhelming to me with a 2-week old in tow.  We will see how the day goes and may only make it to 2 places.  I am not comfortable with the idea of taking Ryder around so many people just yet.  With it being flu season, and having to worry about the Swine flu on top of it, I am just nervous.   I also do not want him being passed off from person to person all day ... and I am not sure how I am going to deal with it.  Hopefully I can find a nice way to avoid it.  I feel like a mama bear protecting her cub. :)  Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and get to eat lots of good food!  I am missing all of you that I won't see, but will be thinking of you!  I am thankful for all of my wonderful family and friends, our dogs, our home and our jobs .... and of course, my wonderful husband and our beautiful son!

You could also put him in a snuggy or wrap so people are less likely to try to "take him" out of your hands...that worked alot of the time for me... or just say how the doctors not to let people hold him during this season or something....LIE your way through the holidays with the baby! That may be the only way you get any holding time in:) Miss you guys. Your little man is TOO PRECIOUS! Meg

You are right! The floors can wait! So can most things, actually. There will be a time, all too soon, that you will be chasing him around and your work load at home will double. Who cares if for a few short months you don't stay on top of it all. I would do almost anything to get a day of that time back. Snuggle! You have the right idea! I hope your thanksgiving went smooth. Gabriela was 2 weeks old, too, at thanksgiving and I was a mess. I just wanted to go in a back room and lay down with her. I hated letting people handle her. Drove me nuts!!!! But you gotta speak up for you and him. You're the only one who can. Sounds like everything is going wonderfully for you guys! So happy about that! miss you all and love you, too!
