It's official. I am ready to not be pregnant anymore. I have forgotten what it feels like to not be pregnant, just as I know in a few months I will have forgotten what it feels like to be pregnant. I am really uncomfortable now though and still have 5.5 weeks to go!
This past Thursday, after dinner, I suddenly felt very sick to my stomach. After a few hours of moaning and groaning, I started throwing up ..... and continued to for the next 12 hours. I was up allll night. On top of the throwing up and stomach pain, I had horrible heartburn and couldn't take my medicine because I knew it would just come back up. By morning I wasn't any better and still couldn't even keep a few sips of water down. I had been having frequent contractions all night long and knew it was because I was very dehydrated. Rudy was supposed to go to work early and I was a little worried about how I would get through the day being so sick and having to take care of Ryder. I decided to give the doctor a call because I was worried about how dehydrated I had become (for the record, I was dehydrated before I even started getting sick as I had been to the gym and not rehydrated myself yet - oops). The doctor told me to go right in to labor and delivery to get some fluids through an IV. He felt that it had been going on too long and was crucial for me to get some fluids in my body. I was a little hesitant and considered waiting a few more hours, mostly worried about how much a trip the hospital would end up costing us, but Rudy and I both decided we needed to do what was best for the baby so we headed to the hospital. He had to scramble to get someone to cover for him at work since he was supposed to open the shop that day, but it worked out. We got there and discovered they wouldn't allow Ryder to go in with us, so I went back by myself and thankfully my mom was able to come pick up Ryder to spend the day at her house.
Just as suspected, I was EXTREMELY dehydrated and it ended up being a really good thing we went in. I continued to throw up at the hospital until they started the IV and got some anti-nausea medicine into my system. My contractions were 5 minutes apart which was a little concerning and they told me that if the fluids didn't calm them down, they'd have to give me a shot to stop them. Thankfully after the first bag of fluids, the contractions had already calmed waaaay down and by the time the second bad was finished, I wasn't having any at all. We ended up being there for 6 hours and by the time we left I was feeling a lot better. I'm still recovering from whatever it was - stomach flu or food poisoning (I am thinking the latter since no one else in the house got sick, but who knows) - but also going to focus a lot more on staying hydrated from here on out. I know I haven't been drinking enough water and it became really apparent when I went hours without having any contractions after we left the hospital .... I typically have tons throughout the day, never consistent, but often enough that I know it's from lack of fluids. Now that it's getting hot, I've really got to be better. I have been munching on ice and it is so satisfying! :)
Since this whole sick episode, I have had the WORST heartburn and the medicine that normally keeps it pretty mild isn't doing a single thing for me. It's AWFUL and I don't know what to do for relief! I am afraid to eat anything because everything seems to make it worse. For the past 24 hours I have literally been feeling like I could be having a heart attack and I don't know how much more I can take!
So anyway, I am just so ready to have this baby! Hoping May flies by as fast as April has!
