28.5 Weeks...

And feeling exhausted.  The 3rd trimester hit me like a ton of bricks!  And I am already feeling huge ... not good considering how much growing is left to do.  I am so hungry but feel painfully full after 2 bites.  I can't WAIT to eat post-delivery.  It's going to be a turkey sandwich from Jimmy John's again!  I am already getting kicked in the ribs - pregnancy is the one time I wish I had a longer torso.  I swear this baby never stops moving in there!  He/she likes to party all day and all night!

I had my 1 hour glucose test a couple weeks ago and easily passed.  I think at 135-140 they require the 3-hour test and I was at 104.  Sweet.  To my surprise I had only gained one pound since visit 4 weeks earlier.  The belly sure grew a lot during that time though!  And the weekend after my appointment,  my aunt & uncle were in town from Iowa so we did a lot of eating ..... I was pretty much in pain the entire weekend and could swear I gained 10 pounds in just a couple of days.  The doctor said if my appointment was a week later they would be seeing me back in 2 weeks and a week earlier they'd be seeing me in 4 ... so he went right in the middle and had me schedule for 3 weeks.  We go this Thursday (finally getting to meet the 3rd doctor) and then I will be going every 2 weeks!!  I can't believe we are already to that point! We've got so much going on that the weeks are flying by!

We have made some progress on our projects.  Why does everything take longer than planned and cost a lot more money though?  Once we got the swing set out, Rudy finished the fence and started preparing the yard for grass.  Since there was grass back there before we moved in, there was already a sprinkler system .... well pretty much the whole thing needed to be replaced.  Figures.  Rudy has been working hard back there though and my dad has helped him too.  They built a whole new sprinkler system and we are basically ready to put the sod down!  It will be delivered Thursday night and laid on Friday!  I can't believe we'll have grass at the end of the week!

There will be more to do in the backyard, but after this week we'll have to take a break so we can get started on the nursery.  I've been getting really stressed out over the fact that we haven't done anything with it yet!  I want to work on it everyday, but I can't move the heavy stuff out of there and of course I can't paint either.  Those are the first two things that need to be done, so I've been feeling stuck and overwhelmed.  We have our paint color picked out though and hopefully can get it painted soon.  We still need to order the furniture but I have at least picked out a crib and we just have to go talk to Rudy's grandpa about the dresser & armoire that we are going to have him make, so we can get an estimate.  Once we get the painting and furniture taken care of, I will feel much more relaxed about the whole thing and can enjoy the rest of the decorating.  I already have a lot of stuff picked out, but am waiting until we know the cost of everything else before I buy anything because we may not have any money left!!  I have been selling stuff on Craigs List for our nursery fund and still have a couple big items to sell.   And by the way, I neeeed this......

It's way too expensive for a clothes hamper, but how freaking adorable is it!?!?!  And it would go PERFECTLY in the nursery.  I have found so much cute decor..... and so many diy ideas.  Can't wait to have this room done!  It's going to be sooo cute!

I am pretty sure that, once again, our bedroom is going to get put off.  I guess that's just the way it goes when you have kids.  Speaking of kids ..... let's talk about Ryder!!

He is so funny and is such a little chatterbox.  He says the funniest things, I really should be keeping a notebook of quotes from him, but sadly I am not.  The other day he was in our closet (one of his favorite places to play) and pointed to a piggy bank we have and said, "That's a banky pig!"  He is still very much into the alphabet and sings the ABC's suuuper fast.  Sometimes I hear him singing over the baby monitor when he is in his crib and it is so cute.  He also knows which sound every letter makes, and it's quite impressive!

Ryder still loves his cars and anything to do with them.  He is also still obsessed with garbage and some of his favorite activities are taking the trash out and putting the cans out by the street for collection.  Let's hope he still enjoys it when it becomes one of his chores!  He has a green tractor push toy and a blue shopping cart that he calls his "green garbage" and "blue garbage" since those are the colors of our  cans.  He is always putting "garbage" in them.  He has plastic bags filled with crumpled up plastic bags to resemble garbage.  Yes, our kid plays with plastic bags.  One of the most dangerous things you can let your kid play with.  He just drags them around the house insisting he's taking the garbage out.  Whenever he goes to someone's house, he wants to take their garbage out too.

Ryder also loves listening to music.  He asks me to put it on every day.  He watches a little tv in the morning, but most of the day we stick to music.  He loves Elmo, or as he says. "Elbo."  He enjoys coloring and painting ("pinking") with watercolors.  Even with just dirt in the backyard, he could spend the entire day out there.  I can't wait to have the grass for him to play on and will be so much happier to spend time out there knowing we won't come in the house covered in dirt.  I am sure he'll still find a way though. :)

I am a little concerned over how the transition of the new baby will be for Ryder.  We talk about the baby all the time, but I know he doesn't really "get it."  This is another reason I really think we need to get started on the nursery.  That room is still his playroom and he spends most of the day in there.  He calls it his "garage."  I know he is really not going to be happy about the change.  And I am afraid we should have started earlier to give him more time to get used to it being different.  He is also not going to be happy about us moving the rocker out of his room.  We still sit in it before naps and bedtime to snuggle and read books.  I'm tempted to just get a new one for the baby, but we really need the space in his room for his toys that will be moving in there.  I have been trying to figure out how to change our sleep time routine.  I thought maybe we could convert his crib to the toddler bed so that we could lay down for reading and snuggles, but he seems to still really like his crib still and has yet to try and climb out of it.  Plus, I worry that if he had the freedom to get out of bed whenever he wants, it will be hard to keep him in there.  And I'd like to avoid any extra changes for his at this time.  So I am at a total loss as to what to do here.  I know that we need to start making transitions so that everything won't change at once when the baby arrives, but I just don't know what to do.

Well it's late and I am tired.  I finally got some pictures uploaded to the computer so I will get some posted soon!
