Pittsfield to Adel

Day 3:

We spent the morning just hanging around the farm. We let Ryder play in grass for his first time ever. He was a little reluctant at first, but ended up thinking it was pretty cool. There were many grass sessions throughout our trip .... and we have TONS of grass pictures. :) We just don't really get to do that here. We will get to when it's cool enough to hang out at the park, and that won't be soon enough! I am dying to do things outside!

About to put him down, and he's not having it!

Umm, no thanks. I don't want to touch it.

Don't you dare put me down!!!

Not so sure about this stuff ...

Hmmm, interesting .....

This is kind of fun!

What is this stuff!?!?!

Midday, we loaded up the car - Rudy, my grandma, Ryder and I - and headed to Iowa. Rudy and I had originally planned to drive at night, thinking it would be easier for Ryder, but somehow we got talked in to leaving early. It was a ROUGH ride. We had to stop a lot and Ryder was just really unhappy most of the way. He did sleep for a little while, but there was a lot of crying leading up to that. We took a few wrong turns, which also slowed us down. All I can say is thank God we had a DVD player and lots of snacks with us, because they were the only things that got Ryder through the ordeal. We finally made it there. We all stayed at my Aunt Mickie & Uncle Steve's house. They have a gorgeous home and Rudy, Ryder & I had the whole basement to ourselves, which was REALLY nice. We were sooo comfortable there! And since they have grandbabies, they had all of the stuff we needed for Ryder, which was awesome.

Saturday we went into Des Moines and went to The Hobby Lobby - a craft store that Karina told me about. We don't have one in Tucson, but I wish we did, it was AMAZING!!! I could have spent hours in there. I had to limit myself though. I got some great things for Ryder's scrapbook and can't wait to use them. The rest of the day we just kind of hung around the house. I really don't know why we didn't do more, but I kind of wish we had. It's hard trying to do things around Ryder's naps & feedings. I kind of kept waiting for all the family to get together too, but everyone kind of did their own thing.

Ryder had an exciting adventure - climbing up the basement stairs all by himself! See for yourself!

Thinking he might be able to climb up these things.

Gonna give it a go....

And he's off...

Well on his way .... (of course I had to follow close behind)

Look at him go!

Made it to the top! What a big boy!

Walking up another set of stairs.... I have to say I am thankful we don't have stairs in our house ... it's exhausting!

Saturday evening was the rehearsal dinner for my cousin Meghan's wedding. It was at my aunt & uncle's house where we were staying (very convenient for when Ryder was ready for bed). The food was delicious and of course we ate way tooo much! Dessert was awesome too! I don't know why, but I didn't really get that many pictures.

Cousins Tanner & Taylor (twinsies!) I remember when they were Ryder's age! Now they're all grown up!

Cousins, Meghan & Mandi (bride & her sis)

My cute little grandma. She was so proud of her giant cupcake. :)

Little cousins ... Maddy, Lily & Brody. Ryder not sure he wants to play with them.

He decided to check Brody out

Checking out his great uncle Kevin
