Not a whole lot to report here. I have been taking care of my friend's cats (4 of them!) while she has been in the hospital. She ended up having a double bypass. I am soo glad she didn't have a heart attack for them to find out she had the blockage. Just to clarify, she is a friend in her late 50's that I worked with at Canyon Ranch (in case you were thinking this was someone close to my age). She is just the sweetest woman and doesn't have any family. Both of her parents died from heart problems younger than she is now. Her brother had a heart attack in his 30's. This goes to show how some things are so genetic. She takes great care of herself - eats super healthy and is one of the fittest people I know. She has been teaching fitness for over 20 years and at her age is still teaching hard core classes and does so much cardio. Anyway, I picked her up from the hospital today and took her home. I was going to clean her house for her before she got there, but another woman from work volunteered to do that - which I am SO thankful for because I really don't know how I was going to accomplish that with Ryder there. I can't even get my own house clean! :) Lots of people from work are going to be helping her out, checking in on her, cooking meals, staying with her, etc. I hope that she will have a quick recovery! I am just glad that she is going to be ok.

Poor little Ryder seems to have another little cold. He has been coughing for over a week now. It's just a dry little cough and I thought that maybe he was breathing through his mouth at night, making his throat dry. Well, this morning he woke up stuffy and nose running. Poor little guy. He doesn't have a fever but has been sweating a lot and his little chubby cheeks are real red. He just looks like he doesn't feel well. I got so freaked out tonight because he was gasping for air and making all these weird noises. Rudy was out picking up dinner and I called him and told him to get home quick because I didn't know what to do! I was nervous because I recently saw on the news that RSV cases are majorly on the rise in AZ in the past few weeks - so much so that they are sending kids out of state for treatment because the hospitals are full. Just to be sure, we called the doctor and he said we probably didn't need to take him into the hospital tonight because we would be there forever and that we can just bring him into the office tomorrow. He is definitely sleeping in our room tonight so we can watch him closely. It's probably just a cold, but we want to be sure we don't miss anything. It's going to be even harder to keep him healthy now that he is touching everything and constantly has his hands in his mouth!

I think we will also be making a trip to the vet tomorrow. UGH! Little boy definitely has an ear infection. It looks disgusting and it's bothering him a lot. I waited to take him in, hoping it might go away on it's own, but it's only gotten worse. Figures. We just took him in recently because he appeared to have something wrong with his eye. It was red, swollen and only halfway open. Well as soon as we got to the vet, he opened it all the way and by the next day, $120 later, he was fine. I think he was faking it for attention. I wish I would have waited it out on that one, but it was New Year's Eve day that it happened and I knew they would be closed for the whole weekend. I was afraid he would get worse and I would have to take him to the emergency vet which would cost a whole lot more. Hopefully it won't cost a fortune to get him some antibiotics. I am not going to let them do all the ridiculous tests that they always want to do.

We had some fabulous rain over the weekend and for the rest of the week should be in the low 70's and sunny. Hopefully more rain over the weekend. I am loving this winter with all of the rain we have gotten. I wish it was like this every year! That's about it, going to try and go to bed. Have a great week!
