He's 3!

Well, it's official.  We have a 3 year old.  He's growing tooo fast!

I feel like we hardly spent any time with him today because we were getting ready for his party and then were busy "hosting" it.  But I think he had a good time.  We had a lot of preparing to do yesterday but took him to Peter Piper Pizza last night.  Just the 4 of us.  It was nice and he had a lot of fun.  He ate  2 whole pieces of pizza - they were small, but that's pretty amazing!  We picked up an ice cream cake on our way home and he was a very happy boy.  I'm glad we got to spend a little time celebrating with him as a family.

His party was fun, but just like last year, it ended up being a super random cold & windy day.  It was 90 degree the other day and then 60 today.  Figures.  Rain was predicted but thankfully it came overnight last night and then cleared out mid-morning, so at least we had some sun. We had a BBQ in our backyard and, despite the cold, it was really nice.  It was pirate themed.  Jake & the Neverland Pirates.

It's funny to watch Ryder with other kids.  He is so incredibly independent.  He interacts with them, but is perfectly happy doing his own thing.  We did a little obstacle course/scavenger hunt with the little ones and of course Ryder didn't participate.  He was busy chatting it up with people and doing his own thing.  But the other kids enjoyed it!  I get frustrated when I can't get him to participate in things, but most of the time am so thankful that he is really great at self-entertaining.

Ryder is such a little chatterbox and has started talking to random strangers wherever we go - not sure I am a fan of that.  It's probably time to have a little "stranger danger" talk with him.  He says the funniest things.  Last night when we were driving home he said, "You want me to drive?"  Not quite yet, dude.

He is still a super picky eater and I am pretty sure it's a texture thing.  The other night I got him to try a TINY piece of spaghetti noodle and he gagged.  Hopefully he'll grow out of it, but I am anxious to see what the pediatrician says when we go in a few weeks.  He is definitely small for his age.  He still wears 2T in everything and the other night he slept in size 24 month footed pajamas.  I bought him some 3T pants and they just fall right off of him.

Besides his 3 year well check (which = shots :( ) Ryder will be seeing an eye doctor and the dentist.  He's had some stuff going on with his eyes - please keep him in your prayers.  Will explain once we see the doctor.  He also recently fell and busted his lip on the tile - his tooth went through his lip and we recently noticed his front tooth has turned kinda brown.  Pretty sure his tooth is "dead."  Hopefully it's fine and we'll just have to wait for it to fall out, but want to make sure.  I guess this is life with a boy - they apparently get pretty beat up.  He is constantly falling and banging into things.

It's been a great 3 years and I just can't believe how fast it has gone!  I wish time would slow down!  We love our Ryder-Roo so much and he truly is such a funny, sweet and unique little boy.
