I can't believe this little man will be 2 years old in just 4 months. It won't be long before we have to start planning his party. It makes me so sad, but at the same time it's really fun watching him grow everyday. He is SO funny right now! He has gotten so good at talking and says so many things. Some of my current favorite phrases are:
"Cool dude!"
"Ewww, garbage."
"Good job" (as he claps for himself)
"Sit Pluto!"
"Get down Little Boy!"
"Woah, baby!"
When he falls, he says, "Woooah. You okay?" Cracks me up!
"What happened?"
"Throw it away?"
As always, Ryder continues to amaze me with his smarts! He can count to 10, all on his own. He is also starting to learn letters! The other day he pointed out a few letters to me, and I had no idea he knew them. He is learning shapes too. He is constantly picking up new words and I have almost yelled at a few people while shopping because they have stood near us using completely inappropriate language. I DO NOT want to have the kid that walks around saying bad words, especially because of someone else who has no respect.
(This picture was taken when we got home from camping. We were unloading the car and he climbed right up into his stroller, wanting to go for a walk).
The week after we got home from camping, Ryder came down with a fever (he had a runny nose for a few days first and I assumed it was from teething because that's normal for him and he's getting a few new teeth). At first I thought the fever could be teething related too, but it was very persistent and we couldn't get it to stay down, so we knew he was sick. By the 3rd day the fever had broken .... and the next day he woke up with the rash, so I knew immediately he had Roseola. The rash was gone within a few days and he was back to normal. He had a pretty mild case because his fever never got super high and the rash wasn't too bad either. We didn't even go to the doctor because the fever happened over the weekend and when he got the rash I knew what it was and I also knew there was nothing they could do for him (glad we didn't waste the money to take him in).
(Both of these pictures are from when he was sick. Poor little guy.) :(
One of my favorite things Ryder does right now is when he starts asking for something and I respond with, "You want ___?" He says, "OK!!" and gets so excited! It's adorable and makes me laugh every time. I'll have to get a video and post it. I have not been taking enough pictures or videos AT ALL. It's sad really. It's just so hard to get a picture of him because he's so busy. They either come out blurry or he doesn't end up being in the frame at all because he runs so fast. :) We are definitely long over-due for a good photo shoot though.
(This boy sure can rock a pair of high heels! And he's a pro at walking in them.)
He now has 3 front teeth on top, 3 front on the bottom, two molars that are about half way in on top and the bottom two molars look like they will come through at any time - they've been swollen for weeks. He also has 2 other teeth starting to come in on the top. He takes teething like a champ - you wouldn't even know it's happening really. I'm not sure if it's just the way he is or if his amber necklace really does help - but I'm not taking my chances on taking it off him! I have one too and it really does work wonders for pain. If you've got a baby and want a natural teething remedy, I can happily give you more info.
(This pictures is from a couple months ago, but it still makes me laugh. He totally got stuck like this!)
The other day Ryder and I were leaving the grocery store and it was starting to rain. He was sitting in his car seat, while I buckled him in and I still had the back open from loading the groceries. He saw the rain and got really excited, said, "Rain!" and started signing it too. Then he grabbed my hands and helped me sign it too. It was super cute. He does that a lot - grabs my hands and tries to make me do what he wants with them. Or if he wants something will grab my hands and kind of push me away and say, "Ok!" He's not bossy or anything. ;) He is such a funny boy and just so innocent, no matter what he's doing (ok, maybe not when he's playing in the dog food and water, which we've told him not to do A THOUSAND times).
Ryder's favorite toys are his cars, hands down. Big cars, little cars, tractors, fire trucks ... if it's got wheels he loves it. He plays with them all day long. Lining them up and parking them in different places, driving them on all the different surfaces he can find. I love to watch him explore that way.
The following pictures are Ryder's 18 month pictures that Rudy's brother took. There are other ones that I need to upload onto the computer still, but he did a great job! Especially considering how hard it is to get a good picture of him these days.
Is he stunning or what!?!?
I love this one!
Doing what he does best.
Fave!
