Oh, boy I can't believe it is almost Christmas! And Ryder will already be 6 weeks old on Tuesday. And then next week it will be 2010, yikes! Not a whole lot has happened around here. Just lots of snuggling all day long. Only 2 more weeks till I go back to work and I am sick to my stomach over it. UGH! I should have 6 more weeks before I have to go back. Trying not to think about it, but obviously I can't help it.
Ryder got his first "real" bath in his tub last Thursday and he LOVED it! I think we have a water baby. We had his tub on the counter in our bathroom and he literally stared at himself in the mirror the whole time! I don't blame him, he's so handsome. :) I am soooo glad he didn't cry at all, because that would have made it hard. We were able to take our time since he was so happy. By the end his whole body was shivering - I felt so bad! But he still didn't make a peep. We gave him another one tonight and it went the same way, perfectly happy looking at himself the whole time. He has pretty much outgrown most of his newborn clothes, so I started boxing them up last night and it was sooo sad! I thought it was time to move out of newborn diapers and into Size 1, but they are way too big on him and leak every time. It seems like there is too much of a difference between the two sizes ... has anyone else had this problem? Anyway, I am hoping we can enjoy his first Christmas and that I won't be too stressed out ... we'll see.
Merry Christmas to all!
So I started this post last Tuesday .. and I couldn't figure out how to rotate the 2 pictures that came out sideways ... I don't know why they did that. Anyway, I got frustrated and decided to figure it out later, but never did. Everything that follows was meant to be posted last week. These pictures are old, they were on my camera that we haven't been using much so I just got around to uploading them.
This is what he does when he gets startled in his sleep ... :)
This is our awesome nurse!
I really can't believe that Ryder is 5 weeks old today! Where are the days going? I am soooo dreading going back to work. Even though I will barely be working (3 hours a week to start out), I just do not want to leave him. Rudy will be able to stay home while I am gone though and it will be good for them to have some boy time together.
I had my follow-up dr. appt yesterday and Rudy was unable to switch his work shift around to go with us. This was the first appt he missed from the whole pregnancy. It was only my 2nd outing by myself with Ryder and I was a little nervous. The first was to the grocery store on Sunday and he pretty much fussed the whole 15 minutes I was in the store. He was great at the doctor's though! Fussed a little while we were waiting, but he just did not want to be strapped into his car seat so once we got into the room I got him out and he was happy. He stayed happy through the whole appt, even when I had to put him back in the car seat so I was relieved. I finally got my Swine Flu shot, so we should both be protected since I am nursing him.
Ryder's umbilical cord stump FINALLY fell off today! I can't believe how long it stayed on! I am excited to finally be able to give him a real bath instead of just "sponge baths." It was funny because I was just finishing up his sponge bath, he sneezed and the thing just popped off. Now he really doesn't feel like a newborn anymore. :( He is growing and changing so much. He is giving us real smiles now, which is so much fun. He is"cooing" now too. I have some pictures of him smiling but the camera battery is dead so I will have to charge it to upload them.

Thank you so much for posting photos. I check several times a day to see if you have added anything. It means so much to us back in Illinois to get a glimpse of that beautiful little guy. Hope you and "the boys" have a great holiday season. This is a very special time. Relax and enjoy it. Miss you and love you.....Linda & Bill
